Automation consulting for finance and accounting operations

Your firm's best work shouldn't be data entry.

I design, build and deploy automation inside finance and accounting operations — accounting firms, multi-site providers, and PE-backed operators — with the controls, review points and audit trails your work requires.

What I build

Automations scoped to your actual workflow, not a generic chatbot.

Document & Source Extraction

Turn bank statements, invoices and receipts into structured, review-ready data with confidence scoring on every field.

Client Intake & Chase

Automated document request lists, request tracking, and polite follow-ups that close the loop without a partner writing another email.

Reconciliation Assist

Rule-based plus AI matching across ledgers and bank feeds, with exceptions routed to the right preparer.

Advisory Reporting

Recurring reporting packages drafted automatically from your ledger, with narrative commentary your stakeholders actually read.

Internal Knowledge Agents

A private assistant trained on your firm's methodology, checklists, and prior engagements — not the open internet.

Controls & Governance

Human-in-the-loop checkpoints, retention policies, and full audit logging designed around audit and review requirements.

Credentialing & Payer Enrollment

Provider enrollment tracking, payer follow-up, and expirable document monitoring across multi-site clinical operations — with status visibility partners and revenue cycle can both work from.

The engagement

Five phases. No black boxes.

I work the way your firm does — scoped engagements, documented deliverables, and a clear owner for every step. You keep the blueprint whether or not I build it.

  1. 01

    Workflow Diagnostic

Two weeks inside your monthly close. I map every handoff and time every touch.

  2. 02

    Automation Blueprint

A prioritized roadmap with hour savings, risk notes, and build sequence — yours to keep either way.

  3. 03

    Build & Pilot

I ship the first automation into a live engagement, running side-by-side with your current process for a full cycle before you rely on it.

  4. 04

    Rollout & Training

Firm-wide deployment, SOP rewrites, and staff enablement so it survives after I leave.

  5. 05

    Measurement

Hours recovered measured against the pre-build baseline across a full cycle. You get the number, not an assertion.

Every engagement begins with a fixed-fee Workflow Diagnostic, scoped to the workflow and credited in full toward the build if you proceed. Everything after it is fixed-fee and quoted once the diagnostic is done — no hourly billing on implementation.

Who you'd be working with

I've built this before, where getting it wrong was a regulatory problem.

Lida Michaud, Founder of MichaudOps

For eleven years I worked at Peru's banking, insurance and pension regulator. I led the build of an investment supervisory system that replaced spreadsheet macros with a proper relational database, with automated validation checks encoded into it — data quality improved and the efficiency of investment risk analysis doubled. I also examined operational risk and information security controls across 18 financial institutions and several insurers, so I've spent a good deal of my career deciding whether someone else's controls held up.

Since then, operating roles — most recently VP of Operations at CreditRiskMonitor. MBA in Business Analytics and Machine Learning from Babson, professional certificate in Machine Learning and AI from MIT, BSc in Computer Science.

What I'm not: a bookkeeping service, a software vendor, or an offshore staffing arrangement.

What the work targets

Fewer hours in preparation. Same review, same sign-off.

Preparation time

Document intake, categorization and reconciliation prep stop consuming staff hours before a reviewer ever opens the file.

Review quality

Exceptions surface early with a citation back to the source document, so reviewers stop hunting for context.

Capacity

Recovered hours become capacity you can sell, rather than overtime you have to pay.

Get started

Start with a conversation.

Tell me a little about your organization and where the hours go. The first step is a 60-minute working session at no charge, where we map where your team's time actually goes across a month. If there's nothing worth building, I'll tell you that.
